How to connect Google Calendar to Ari
Connecting Google Calendar lets Ari read your schedule and create or change the events you ask for. It takes about a minute. Google shows a warning screen during the connection. This page explains what the screen means so you can decide for yourself.
Steps
1. Ask Ari for the link
In your chat with Ari, send "connect my Google Calendar." Ari replies with a one-tap link. The link expires after about ten minutes, so ask again if it stops working. You can also open You, then Integrations, in your signed-in account at textari.chat.
2. Open the link and choose your Google account
The link signs you in to Ari and sends you to Google. Pick the Google account whose calendar you want Ari to use.
3. Continue past the unverified-app screen, if you choose
Google may say it has not verified this app. On that screen, select Advanced, then the "go to" link underneath, to continue. You can stop here without connecting and everything else in Ari keeps working.
4. Approve the calendar permission
Google lists what Ari is asking for. Approve it, and Google sends you back to Ari. Ari confirms the connection in your chat.
5. Try it
Ask "what's on my calendar tomorrow?" or "add dentist Thursday at 2pm." Ari checks for collisions before booking and moves the lower-priority item instead of double-booking you.
What the "Google hasn't verified this app" screen means
Google shows this screen whenever an app asks for sensitive permissions and has not completed Google's OAuth verification review. It describes a review that has not happened. It is not a malware detection and not a security incident.
Ari has not completed the review. Some of the permissions Ari uses for Gmail and Drive are classed as restricted by Google and need an annual third-party security assessment, which costs money each year. Ari plans to complete verification when revenue supports it, and has no date for it.
Connecting is your choice. Google Calendar alone is a smaller request than Gmail. Everything Ari does without integrations keeps working. You can disconnect any integration from your settings at any time.
Use a different calendar
If your calendar lives in Apple or Outlook, Ari can read it from a calendar feed link or an iCloud app-specific password. Both are read-only, and neither shows the Google screen. Ask Ari to set one up.
